Andrew Escamilla appointed as Chief Executive Officer

Dubai, December 18th, 2012: TVM Capital MENA, Dubai, a leading private equity firm focusing on investments in the regional healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors, has announced its investment in Cambridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center (CMRC). This dedicated provider of professional, individualized, long-term care services was founded as part of the TVM Capital MENA initiative to help service the growing demand for long-term medical residency in a non-hospital setting. Long-term-care focuses on helping meet both the medical and non-medical needs of patients who suffer from chronic illness or disability. Increasing demand for such specialized care is driven mainly by the lack of dedicated facilities; instead patients are currently occupying acute beds in both public and private hospitals where the available resources for rehabilitation are already over-stretched.

CMRC will expand the UAE long-term rehabilitation services for children and adults of all ages, providing a world-class service, and reducing the need to travel abroad, in order to receive the best possible medical treatment and rehabilitation therapy. CMRC will operate under the regulations of HAAD to provide residents with focused, customized and coordinated continuous medical and rehabilitation programs, in accordance with internationally recognized standards and policies. CEO Andrew Escamilla previously held senior management positions with leading U.S. providers, most recently in the role of CEO at Kindred and Senior Vice President at Vibra. He will lead efforts in setting up the best possible infrastructure and processes for inpatient long-term care, including recruiting a top-level management team with international credentials from the US and Europe.

TVM Capital MENA Chairman and CEO Dr. Helmut M. Schühsler comments: ‘’our objective has always been to provide unique and specialized healthcare delivery services in the Middle East, focusing specifically on areas which are undersupplied. CMRC will satisfy the need for dedicated long-term care facilities in Abu Dhabi and will do so by working closely with concerned regulatory and government bodies towards our joint aim of providing superior healthcare services to the patients and community of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. We are especially pleased to have won Andrew Escamilla to join us as CEO, who brings many years of experience as a long-term healthcare executive in various management positions in the U.S. with a unique ability to manage both the operations and the clinical side of our new company. He will start working on-site in January 2013. ”

Andrew Escamilla adds: “We will bring highly individualized non-acute medical care and rehabilitation therapies to the region. Our offering will fill the current gap in non-hospital treatment, care and support, delivered on a long and ongoing basis in an inpatient facility for patients who suffer from chronic or complex health conditions. We are currently developing two facilities one in each of Al Ain and Abu Dhabi, planning to open our service in Al Ain in early 2013. I am very happy to be part of this important initiative and certainly look forward to help improving the current healthcare infrastructure to ensure best possible care for the people.”

Cambridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center is an investment of TVM Capital MENA Limited, along with the firm’s co-investors The Olayan Group and Al Zarooni Emirates Investments. TVM Capital MENA is the region’s first healthcare focused private equity firm, domiciled in the Dubai International Financial Center. CMRC complements the healthcare delivery portfolio of TVM Capital MENA which includes ProVita International Medical Center – the region’s leading long term care facility for acute, ventilator dependent patients in a non-hospital setting; and Bourn Hall International – the international arm of the world’s first IVF clinic, with established clinics in Dubai and India. The dedicated team of experts from TVM Capital MENA will support CMRC at all levels and ensure best-in-class operational procedures, environmental and social policies and general corporate governance standards.
