Dubai, September 16, 2012 –TVM Capital MENA, a leading private equity firm focusing on investments in the regional healthcare sector has seen its portfolio company Bourn Hall International inaugurate two assisted conception facilities this month, the first in Dubai’s Sheikh Hamdan Centre, Jumeira and the second in Gurgaon, India. The clinics both mark regional firsts with their “clean room” laboratory areas, which ensure patients’ embryos are cared for in the optimum environment.

In late 2010, TVM Capital MENA announced its investment in Bourn Hall International, with the objective of bringing the world class In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) concept to the MENA and India. Based in Cambridge, UK, Bourn Hall was the world’s first IVF clinic and the deal with TVM Capital MENA marked its primary international expansion. TVM Capital MENA Chairman and CEO Dr. Helmut M. Schühsler comments: “Bourn Hall is a pioneering company which provides an increasingly important medical service to communities around the world. With the opening of two new facilities , the MENA reference center in Dubai, as well as the second Indian center in New Delhi, the company is entering a new phase of growth in the Middle East and India.“

Bourn Hall Clinic Dubai initially serves as a reference center for the entire MENA region. During the pre-operating phase in recent months, the company has already attracted substantial interest from potential clients from inside and outside of the UAE. Market data and patient flow in the next 12-18 months will determine the company’s growth plans within the MENA region. The Gurgaon facility comes 16 months after the clinic opened its first Bourn Hall India facility in Kochi. 18 branches are planned to open in India by 2016.
Chief Executive Officer of Bourn Hall International, Dr. Mike Macnamee, said, “Bourn Hall Clinic is a pioneer in the global healthcare arena and we intend to maintain this position; this is an objective which is only possible with the support of experienced industry partners such as TVM Capital MENA.’’

The founders of Bourn Hall invented IVF in 1978 in the UK with the first successful birth of a child conceived through an IVF procedure. As the ultimate testament of Bourn Hall’s world-leading expertise in the field of fertility, its founder, Dr. Bob Edwards, was awarded in 2010 the Nobel Prize in medicine and a Knighthood in 2011 for the invention of IVF.
