Role of PE investment to be discussed under the theme of ‘Invigorating Healthcare Excellence in the MENA’

UAE, 8th December: TVM Capital MENA will host its inaugural Healthcare Investors Conference later this week, with the aim of exploring some of the major trends influencing private equity investment in the sector. Under the theme ‘Invigorating Healthcare Excellence in the MENA’ a number of high profile speakers include leading investment figures, international healthcare experts, regional hospital CEOs and representatives from governing bodies.

The one-day invitation-only event is being held on Thursday 12th December, 2013 at The One & Only, The Palm Dubai and will feature a series of keynote speeches and panel discussions on topics including – ‘Healthcare Trends in the UAE’, ‘From Entrepreneurial Idea to Sustainable Growth’ and ‘What is A Centre of Excellence in Healthcare?’

Dr. Helmut Schuehsler, Chairman & CEO, TVM Capital MENA said, ‘’the role of private healthcare providers will become more obvious in the near future, as regional governments tap into the private market for investing into healthcare services rather than using their own often limited resources for building, owning and operating healthcare businesses. The rise of private insurance, as well as compulsory insurance for the local and expat workforce alike is supporting this trend. In our minds, private equity has a big role to play in this development. We seek to establish successful partnerships with regional governments and healthcare regulators and promote world-class patient care through sharing international knowledge and experience. Our goal with this conference is to host a high-level industry event, where healthcare and investment experts can come together and learn from each other, in order to deliver true excellence and benefit all stakeholders including the investors, the public sector and, above all, the patients. We expect the Healthcare Investors Conference to become a key event on the annual healthcare calendar.’’

As the region’s first private equity firm dedicated exclusively to the healthcare sector, TVM Capital MENA targets the growing investment opportunity in private sector healthcare across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Turkey and India. TVM Capital MENA has to date invested in four companies, three are under the TVM Capital MENA Continuum of Care Companies umbrella, in the field of long-term care, rehabilitation and home care – ProVita International Medical Centre, Cambridge Medical & Rehabilitation Centre and Manzil Health Care Services. The fourth is Bourn Hall International, a world leader in IVF and fertility.

Very recently, TVM Capital MENA signed an affiliation with Spaulding Rehabilitation Network, a US-based global leader in rehabilitative care, long-term acute care, home care and related research. As the official teaching hospital of the Harvard Medical School Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R), Spaulding is at the forefront of research, which will enable the portfolio companies to continue building centers of excellence in their respective fields.
